The 24-hour bandh on National Highways, clamped by ZYF, AZSU and ZSUM, to protest the Police Department for not arresting Hingba Mathew, warden of Josephine Girls Hostel, Maram in physical assault case of a student ended peacefully.
A joint press statement issued by the three bodies thanked the general public to extend support to the bandh.
The State Government was extremely vocal whenever a person from Manipur suffered in Delhi, however it is absurd to remain silent and unable to deal with it accordingly when extreme heinous crimes happened just under its nose, added the press statement.
There have been numerous cases of physical assault on students in Don Bosco College, Maram in the past, the press statement said and added that the three bodies would campaign until justice is delivered to the victim.
Any eventuality must be responsible by the State Government, it cautioned.
