To protest detention of agitation leaders under National Security Act Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup, Singjamei Chingamakha Heirangoithong Road has imposed a twelve hour bandh from 5 am of September 1 in between Moirangkhom Oil Pump and Lilong bridge.
Demanding withdrawal of AFSPA from the entire State of Manipur and restoration of tranquil atmosphere, the Lup also urged the State authorities to release all the detained persons without any conditions at the earliest.
Meanwhile, denouncing detention of agitation leaders under the NSA, Manipur University students Union observed that future political aspiration of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and his ministerial colleagues would be severely affected if the SPF Government continue to pursue repressive methods to subdue the ongoing people�s movement.
Stating that the Government should acknowledge the people�s movement as an outcry of prolonged suffering due to atrocities committed by security force personnel under AFSPA, MUSU described as �reign of terror� the forceful crackdown on the agitationists who are only demanding right to live as free citizens.
Demanding unconditional release of all the detained persons, the student body also reiterated its stand to oppose promulgation of AFSPA through various form of agitation.
Singling out individuals and detention under the harshest law could not silence the justifiable movement of the people and immediate measures should be pursued to withdraw AFSPA from the entire State at the earliest, MUSU added.
