Awareness programme on Farmers' Rights

An awareness programme on 'Protection of plant varieties and farmers' Right Act' was organised under the aegis of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal West at ICAR Manipur Centre complex at Lamphelpat today.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of the programme, Director of Agriculture Dr L Palandro Singh pointed out that many varieties of plants are available in Manipur and to protect these plant varieties, we need to sensitize the farmers and form an organisation of the farmers in this regard.
He went on to say that U-morok, which is the hottest chilly of Manipur and grown widely all over the State has become a property of Nagaland today and now it has been given the name of King Chilly.
