Raised on March 15, 2004, to exercise operational control and administer all forces of Assam Rifles in Manipur including 4 Sector Headquarters and 21 Battalions, Hqs IGAR turned six on March 15.According a press release, Hqs IGAR (S) has achieved incredible success in combating insurgency and creating peaceful and conducive environment for development and prosperity in Manipur.
he release further said that AR seized 42.5 tonnes of ganja 170 trucks of timber and 51,794 litres of illicit liquor in the past five years.
The biggest achievement of AR has been to evict proscribed elements from the so-called 'Liberated Zone' by undertaking Operation Samtal, the release said and added that as a due recognition of the efforts in achieving the feats, Hqs IGAR(S) and Units under its command have earned three AVSMs, five VSMs, three KCs, seven SCs, 82 SM(G)s, six SM(D)s/Bars, 113 COAS CCs, 91 GOC-in-C CCs, 15 Mention-in-despatches, 63 police medals, 155 Governor Gold medals, 122 Governor Silver Medals and 32 DGAR Commendation Cards.
Speaking on the occasion, IGAR (S) Maj Gen AK Choudhary emphasised on the conduct of people friendly operations and promoting multifaceted developmental programmes for the people of the State.
He exhorted all Ranks to continue with the good work they are doing to ensure peace and prosperity in Manipur.
