Imphal, May 07 2011:
Several bodies have demanded for immediate release of 25 women street vendors who were taken into custody by police on May 4 .
The women were arrested as they tried to throng the Raj Bhavan to submit a reminder memorandum to the Governor in protest against the allotment of vendor space at Lamphel Supermarket.
Life Care Foundation, Kiyam Wangmataba Youth Welfare Association, Thoubal Kiyam Wangmataba, Earth Care Foundation, Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi Leikai and Centre for Child Development Organisation, Heirok pressed the Govt to free the arrested women as many of them are lactating mothers.
