In connection with the Loktak Day celebration on october 7 individuals who had completed Inland Fishery training (2005-06) under the State Fishery Department will release 30,000 fingerlings of pengba (osteobrama belangeri) variety in the fresh water lake.
Informed sources said the fingerlings were reared by 15 trainees out of their training period stipend with the objective of replenishing indigenous fish stock of Loktak Lake which had been on the decline for the past many years.
