Reacting against the state government's decision to hand over the authority of Umanglai to the Govindajee Temple Board, the Bangladesh Poirei Apokpa Marup (BPAM) in a press statement said that BPAM will support with the motions of Umanglai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) in all possible ways in their struggle to preserve the Sanamahi faith.
The BPAM statement said that the current stand of the state government on the issue is a conspiracy to abolish the real language, culture and faith of the Meetei community.
The tradition of Umanglai had been accompanying with the people of the land since time immemorial.
BPAM also said that the intended step of the state government on the issue is renewed form of cultural demolition in the state after Shantidas Gosai's trial to eliminate the Meetei generations by destroying all the holy Puyas and Komai's of Umanglai at Mongbahanba Laipham.
