The 12 hrs bandh called by the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) from 6 am to 6 pm today was successfully observed in all the hill districts of the State with vehicles staying off the road and normal live coming to a standstill.
On account of the bandh more than 110 vehicles coming towards Manipur were left stranded at Mao gate.
Six LPG trucks and eleven passenger buses were also among the stranded vehicles.
The 12 hrs bandh also paralysed normal lives at Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Chandel and Ukhrul districts with shops downing shutter and vehicular movements coming to a grinding halt.
All bus services from Imphal to the hill districts were also suspended.
On the other hand the bandh had very little effect in the valley areas with shops open and people carrying out their normal affairs as usual.
However, service of passenger buses were very thin and Khwairamband Bazar recording a low turnout.
