A meeting of the SPF Legislature Party took stock of the prevailing public distribution system and to ways to improvise it.
The meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi, most of the MLAs acknowledged that essential commodities like rice, kerosene, sugar etc could not be made available to the poor people of the State at the subsidised rates fixed by Govt.They even mulled of de-controlling PDS items.
The meeting also took note of the unavailability of kerosene in different parts of the State particularly in remote areas and high price of the commodity even if it is available.
PDS Minister Th Debendra assured to initiate all possible steps to ensure PDS items like rice, kerosene, sugar etc to the people through NGOs and social organisations even as the meeting failed to adopt any resolution.
