Out of three suspected cadres of KCP-Mobile Task Force who came to serve demand notes to the shops of Yaingangpokpi Bazar, one has been rounded up and handed over to the police by the local people while the other two managed to escape.
The incident occured at around 7.30 am today.
The rounded up cadre has been identified as Laishram Abungcha (22) of Kongpal Laishram Leikai but staying at Chingnungkok.
The identity of the escaped cadres have also been established as Anand of Tellou and Abung of Chingnungkok from the disclosure of Abungcha.
According to police, the three cadres have come together in a Tata Magic (MN01W/6259) plying between Imphal and Nongada, which they have hijacked, to serve the demand notes of Rs 10 lakhs to two grocery shops and Airtel Recharge Retailer.
The demand notes have been seized.
A public meeting held at Yaingangpokpi Bazar today strongly condemned the incident and taken various resolutions in this connection.
