Imphal, August 22:
The State's Forest and Environment Department has submitted a proposal to the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment for conducting a survey to find out whether there is any tiger population in the forests of Manipur.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source said the proposal for conducting survey along with officials of National Institute of Wild Life and the Directorate of Project Tiger has been submitted to trail Tiger tracks, if any, in Manipur.
The Union Ministry has also been requested to provide financial assistance for the survey, the source said, adding that no green signal has been received from the side of the Ministry till date.
