Imphal, April 22 2011:
Governor Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Khongjom day.
The Governor said, "On this auspicious occasion of Khongjom Day, let all of us rejuvenate our pledge to preserve and protect the sovereignty of our country and its dignity, standing unitedly and boldly" .
Gurbachan reminded that Manipur came under British rule due to disunity and enmity among Manipuri princes.
He said, "In celebrating the day, we need to remind ourselves that foreign powers tend to intervene in the sovereignty of a country whenever its people are disunited and disorganised" .
