The 2nd phase of the Tree Plantation Campaign, 2005-06 being taken up by Rotary Club of Imphal was conducted at the complex of the Indane bottling plant of the IOC (AOD) which is under construction at Sekmai today.
The campaign was conducted under the theme of Save Mother Earth in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (Assam Oil Division) with the main objective of developing the IBP area as a beautiful greenery zone.
Around 600 saplings of various trees like Jackfruit, Yongchak, Amla, Gulmohar, etc, were planted by the Club members.
The campaign was conducted under the initiative of BK Sharma who is the chairperson of Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Committee of Rotary Club of Imphal.
Speaking to mediapersons during the campaign, Club president Dr Th Dhabali informed that around 1000 saplings have already been panted during the first phase of the programme.
