Imphal, September 26 2011:
Some unidentified persons fired a few round of shots at a meeting held for Naoroibam Ratan (Kapur) at Kairang Muslim Mamang Leikai last night.
Notably, N Kapur is preparing to contest in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections from Heingang Assembly constituency.
The Kairang Muslim Bibi Mahila Samiti has however contended that there was no such incident as such.
In a statement the Samiti claimed that they were at the meeting venue from the start till the end and did not hear any gun shots.
Speaking to media persons at Laipham Khunou today, Kapur condemned the act of opening fire where a meeting was also going on.
He said that his supporters Wahengbam Mani and Sapam Thoiba of Heingang Awang Leikai sustained injuries in the attack.
"Counting last night's attack, there have been 38 election related attacks against me", Kapur said.
There were incidents when Kapur's supporters were picked up by police and thrashed severely.
The arrested persons were released later saying that they turned out to be innocent.
Another supporter Mayanglambam Bhagirot of Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai was also killed under a political conspiracy on September 16, Kapur said.
On September 25, an election meeting for IFC Minister N Biren was also held in the home polling of Kapur together with lunch.
"Addressing the meeting, Biren called upon the people not to put any faith in the young, irresolute candidate, apparently referring to me in a very personal manner", Kapur said.
Questioning the motive behind the attack at the meeting venue where many innocent people were present, Kapur expressed strong suspicion that the yesterday's attack was a pre-planned.
