Imphal, August 21:
Apprehending clashes between militant groups in the "Zeliangrong region", the All Zeliangrong Students Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) said that any faction that triggers trouble first will be considered as anti-people and betrayal of the
Zeliangrong community.
The AZSU-AMN however did not take names of any underground group but said that it is pointing to "both the factions operating in the Zeliangrong Region.
The student body said that it is reiterating today the numerous appeals made earlier to "both the factions" to stop the fratricidal killings among the Zeliangrongs "as enough bloodshed already occurred among ourselves resulting in the loss of many precious lives".
The AZSU-AMN said that it is disheartening to see the present scenario which may escalate into a full-fledged factional clash in the region.
"We are committed in continuing our holistic approach in urging all concerned to undo dishonouring acts since this is unwarranted and much against the ideal wishes of the Zeliangrong people," stated the AZSU-AMN.
The Zeliangrong's apex students body also stated that after all the elements in both the factions speak the same dialect, inherited the same culture and tradition but still appeared to be continuing in locking horns with each other while harping on the destructive motives inspite of numerous appeals by various civil organisations of the Zeliangrong people.
The AZSU-AMN cautioned that the Zeliangrong people will oppose those factions who are acting against the wishes of the Zeliangrong people.
