Under the Heart to Heart Project of Rotary Club of Imphal, the 3rd batch of three children with congenital heart disease will be leaving Imphal on December 7 for open heart surgery at Mission Hospital, Durgapur in West Bengal.
The three children are 5-year old N Venus d/o N Basanta Singh of Khordak Ichin, 7-year old M Rishikanta s/o M Pakpa Singh of Kakching Khullen Sumak Leikai and 1 year and 6 months old Kh Mamlenganba s/o Kh Chourjit Singh of Sega Road, Khwairakpam Leikai, according to a statement issued by secretary of Rotary Club of India.
The children would be flown to West Bengal in Indigo Airlines.
The flight would take off from Imphal airport at 2.30 pm.
The secretary further informed that the second batch of three children had returned to Imphal on November 17 last after successful open heart surgery while the first batch of another three children returned on September 23 last after similar successful open heart surgery at the same hospital.
The entire cost of the operation of the second and third batch comprising six children has been borne from the generous contribution of Member of Parliament Rishang Keishing.
The cost of surgery for another two children will also be borne from the total donation of Rs 5 lakhs made by the MP, the secretary disclosed.
The historic project is a triangular initiative of Rotary Club of Imphal which arranges financial support, Rotary Club of Asansol which provides logistic supports and Mission Hospital, Durgapur which subsidised the cost of surgery to help children of Manipur from economically challenged families with heart diseases since birth, the secretary explained.
The Scouts and Guides of Asansol (WB) and Rotarians of Rotary Club of Asansol are donating the blood for the project and so far 23 blood units have been donated for the earlier six surgeries of the Ist and the 2nd batch.
