Under the banner of 'Choose Your Right MPs-E--2009', a group of young intellectuals is all set to launch a campaign to sensitise the voters on the need to elect the right persons as representative to the Parliamentary.
Announcing this during a press conference here today, convenor of the campaign Bobbyjames Wahengbam explained that the campaign would be carried out in two phases corresponding to the two phased Lok Sabha election in the State under the titled of 'Outreach' and 'Confluence'.
The election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is due to be held on April 16, while that of the Inner Parliamentary Constituency on April 22 .
Outlining the importance of the proposed campaign, Bobbyjames maintained that there are many lacunas in the system of political structure, particularly with regard to the initiatives taken up for the welfare of the people.
Until and unless the public are fully aware of this, there can be no meaningful election in the State.
About the proposed campaign, he explained that the 'Outreach' session which would go on for four days beginning from April 4 and would be held under the theme of ' Youth initiatives, smart politics in Manipur'.
Students of colleges and universities would be targeted to join in the interactive session and air their opinions.
In the 'Confluence' session which would be carried out under the theme of 'Together we can build a new Manipur' would be held at Mapal Kangjeibung on April 12.Apart from various eminent personalities, candidates being fielded by various political parties both for the Inner and the Outer seats would be invited to speak and address the gathering, Bobbyjames informed.
"We need to raise the level of public awaress and debate on the issue'', Bobbyjames said, adding that the campaign is a festival of an open political and direct dialogue and it is indeed a celebration of democracy''.
People can definitely dictate democratic values in the prevailing culture of political process, he said.
