Imphal, June 08 2016:
Setting the record straight that no non-Manipuris have been harassed or attacked during the course of its movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILP), the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has today asserted that it will not resort to such acts in future too.
In a statement, JCILPS said that it however resorts to different forms of agitation like disallowing them from casting their votes and requiring them to stay indoor as part of its agitation to pressurise the Govt.
The JCILPS condemned the shooting of two non-Manipuris at this juncture.
Saying that such incident is a factor to cast the JCILPS and its movement in the wrong light, the JCILPS urged all concerned to refrain from such activities in future.
The JCILPS could not dismiss the apprehension that the shooting of non-Manipuris was done with a hidden agenda to derail the movement like its former convener Ratan was labelled with a 'wanted' tag.
The JCILPS also expressed regret over the inconveniences caused to the public during its 'ceasework' agitation to protest the 'withholding' of the PMP Bill by the President and keeping of the two other BillsMLR&LR (7th Amendment) Bill and Manipur Shops and Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill, for re-examination by experts.
It further said that the pro-ILPS movement in the State will continue without any let up by intensifying the agitation from time to time.
