The Zomi Human Rights Foundation, Delhi Cell has said that it "takes serious note of the urgent appeal made by the secretariat, Zomi Human Rights Foundation with regard to sanitization of landmines planted and laid by militants in the interior areas of the Churachandpur" district of Manipur.
The press statement of the ZHRF Delhi Cell while affirming its support to its parent body - the ZHRF - stated the presence of mines laid and planted by militants was clearly exhibited by the blast at Nungshai village of Henglep sub-division in Churachandpur District on August 22 as reported in some State dailies on August 26.The Delhi Cell of the ZHRF therefore, instituted a study group for the immediate sanitization of landmines in the hills of Churachandpur district, said the release.
The study group in pursuance of this objective have met the Member of Parliament HT Sangliana at 1 pm today and various other leaders and apprised them of the fate of the people in the interior areas of the district, added the release of the Zomi rights body.
