Presenting the findings of the Leingakleima Commission instituted in connection with alleged corrupt practices in Jiribam sub-division, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has stated that it has been established after a thorough investigation that only very few persons are actually involved in corrupt practices.
However, the main accused has not responded to summon of the people's court and has been playing truant.
Accordingly steps would be taken up to award due and appropriate punishment to him, convenor of Leingakleima Commission Comrade Leingakleima Chanu said in a release, informing that the other accused persons would also be called up for trial in the people's court.
With regard to the stand of the outfit endorsing reconstruction of the historic Khwairamband bazar, the release while acknowledging that its has invited criticism from certain quarters, asserted that the decision to support re-construction of the market had been taken after considering the opinions of the public on the issue.
It has got nothing to do with favouring any of the particular women's groups who are either in support or opposing the construction.
KCP did not meet any of these groups directly or indirectly before taking a definite stand on the issue, the release said.
Emphasizing on the importance of unity and oneness among the various women's bodies, KCP also appealed to all the women's organizations which are either supporting or opposing construction of the market to arrive at an amicable solution and concentrate their attention towards construction of the market shed of their own liking without changing its historical character.
KCP also make its clear that it would accept any punishment given by the people on Nando and his gang for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and subsequent brutal murder of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth.
