State Police Dept has rejected the allegation that three riflemen of the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles have been found missing while on duty.
Wives of the three jawans NK Joy Bahadur, NK Purna Bahadur and Ham Bahadur had filed a complaint before the Manipur Human Rights Commission on the matter.
They prayed before the Commission for taking up appropriate and necessary action on the matter and release ex-gratia, retirement, benefit, pension and gratuity amounting to a total amount of Rs 10 lakhs each.
A report submitted by the ADGP to the rights panel today gave para wise comment on the three cases prepared by the commandant 1st MR.On Joy Thapa, the report stated that Joy was placed under suspension for firing 15 rounds while on duty at the Kangchup Dak Bungalow on May 19 1977.A show case notice was served on him returnable within fifteen days.
As he failed to submit the reply, the then CO by an order issued on April 26 1978 dismissed him from service.
In the case of Ex-Naik Purna Bahadur was dismissed from the service after he deserted his camp on Nov 1 1997 while Ham Bahadur was dismissed on Dec 9 1993 for being absent from the post for 25 days without the any permission.
