Job to kins of Jun 18 'heroes' under Govt preview

The Govt is discussing job offer to family members of the 18 people who lost their lives during the course of June 18, 2001 agitation for the safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has informed the Assembly today.
Responding to a query raised by MLA O Joy during the Question Hour session today, the Chief Minister recalled that on May 17, 2002, a function had been organised in connection with presentation of Rs 1 lakh each as ex-gratia to the family members of the 18 people who lost their lives.
However, only family members of 14 people who lost their lives came to collect the ex-gratia.
In the same function, an assurance had been given to see whether suitable Govt job can be extended to the bereaved families in according to the existing guidelines, the Chief Minister further recalled, adding that a joint application has been received from the side of the bereaved families on August 24.However, necessary details like educational qualifications have not been mentioned in the application.
In case any of the family members have participated in DPC for job recruitment, then the Government would see whether their educational qualification is in consonance with the existing RRs or not.
Otherwise, the matter would be taken up for discussion by the State, the Chief Minister assured.
Raising the question, MLA O Joy maintained that there should be no harm in extending Govt job to the family members who have lost their lives, specially over an important issue of the State and exerted that the Cabinet should a take a decision in this regard.
Participating in the discussion, Speaker I Hemochandra drew the attention of the Chief Minister for relaxing the age limit if any of the family members applying for the job is overage.
Responding to another question raised by Opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam of NCP, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who is also in charge of MAHUD, pointed out that a notice had already been issued in connection with formation of Ward Development Committees in each ward of Imphal Municipal Council, and the duties and responsibilities of the Committees have been enumerated in Chapter III and IV of Manipur Municipality Community Participation Act, 2010 .
