Imphal, February 25 2009:
Alleging that India has been depriving the rights of the Manipuri people right from the moment of annexing Manipur in 1949 till today, Chaoren said that the Indian Army could not run away from the charges of numerous atrocities being committed on the people of Manipur with immunity granted under AFSPA.
Because the activities of the Indian Army are well-known to the people.
International Amnesty and other human rights organisations have also brought out many reports on the human rights scenario and the atrocities of the Indian Army in Manipur, he noted.
Chaoren further said that at the time of waging armed revolutionary movement for independence against Yugoslavia by Bosnia & Herjgobinia, the Yugoslavia Government which was headed by racist Serbs had dubbed the revolutionarists as terrorist.
But after the human rights organisations revealed the pits in which many dead bodies have been dumped inside an unused railway tunnel, Yugoslavia Government had been chastised and condemned for terrorising, thus giving a boost to the independent movement of Bosnia & Herjgobinia.
In waging the war of independence from 1978-79 till today, RPF, far from indulging in any act of terrorism, has not carried out any activities which arecontravene to the International law (In 1997, RPF had already pledged in Geneva that it would respect the Common Article 3 of the four Geneva Conventions).
So it would be wrong to consider RPF as a terrorist group.
In fact it is the Indian security forces who have been committing acts of terrirosm almost on daily basis in Manipur.
The war of independence should not be equated with terrorist as the former is accepted and supported by the people world over.
If the United Nations does not recognise the war of independence, then the number of independent countries in the world would not have been risen to 190 today.
Regardless of the false propaganda of the India Government, the war of independence being waged by RPF in no terrorism, it is fight for independence of Manipur.
As a consequence of the global financial crisis being witnessed due to greedy economic policy of the USA, the UN Labour Agency has predicated that 200 million people would be deprived of their job/livelihood by the end of 2009 and by the end of the current year the number of jobless and retrenched workers would risen to 210 million.
International Labor Organisation has also predicated, there would be 400 million workers living on just one dollar a day in the current year as an impact of the global financial crisis.
The unemployment rate in Europe and Canada which are considered to be the developed economy in the world has risen to 11 percent this year and in USA, many people who have purchased houses on loan have become homeless today as they could not repay the borrowed loan amount.
Inspite of the tall claim of India that it would not be affected by this global financial crisis, the impact would be soon felt as the resolution of the crisis could not be brought about that easily.
As a result of the financial crisis, the profit earned from the export of Indian products to other countries is bound to come down.
In India today, the prices of essential commodities has sky-rocketed though value of Indian current has come down.
The quantity of food crops produced by the farmers has also come down drastically and the number of farmers who committed suicide as the loan taken for farming could not be paid has become uncountable.
Last year in Maharashtra alone, 170 farmers who could not repay the loan committed suicide.
When a person becomes a billionaire in India, million of people are rendered jobless and homeless.
Incidents of riot against forceful imposition of language not like by the States concerned, outbreak of caste riot, communal clashes among the Hindu, Muslim and Christian, aggression from neighbouring countries, widening gap between the rich and the poor, inequitable distribution of fund among he States, death from starvation, killing of women over dowry, child labour, child marriage, human rights violation, subjugation of the weaker States and terrorising its people, etc have reduced the economy of the self acclaimed largest democracy and Nuclear crazy India to a farce, he added.
