Former District Council Chairman and NCP candidate for outer Manipur Lok Sabha election, LB Sona, today consulted local leaders here at his residence on his intention of fighting the polls with NCP ticket.
Leaders from social, civil and church organizations, many of whom had personally shared a common platform and rubbed shoulder with LB Sona himself had turned up, as the man who are experienced in local politics today formally consulted them of his intention to contest the election.
"I will anticipate your unwavering support as I stand to seek the mandate of the people to bring about the light of peace and development", he said while addressing the hand-picked weighty guests.
With seven political parties already backing his candidature, the upbeat LB Sona said, "The weight that all these parties carried along with them will be sufficient to make the differences".
Besides the NCP, other political parties which he maintained was lobbying for him includes MPP, MSCP, NPP, CPI (M), RSP and Forward Block.
The CPI is expected to join the group very shortly, he said.
Talking to The Sangai Express, at his private chamber today, LB Sona said he is very much hopeful of being the next outer MP.
A modest road connectivity, constitutional safeguard for the marginalized tribes and a floating trade and commerce through border trades should be his priority, he maintained.
Though already in the news for sometime now, the old hand in local politicking has approached his former counterparts in the social fronts in a formal way, as was the tradition.
He is now all set to file his papers once the door is unbolted.
"It could be any day, but it won't be on the last minute", he said when asked about the date he has planned to file his papers.
