Imphal, April 18:
Alleging lack of transparency, Film Forum, Manipur has expressed reservation against the procedure adopted by the DDK Imphal in selection of the commissioned programmes to be sponsored by Prasar Bharati Corporation of India for the year 2006-07.Addressing a press conference in this regard at Manipur Press Club here today, spokesperson of the Forum Nirman Sharma asserted that every year there has always been some sort of discrepancies in the mode of selection of commissioned programmes by the DDK Imphal.
Similarly, the norms laid down by the Prasar Bharati Corporation have been violated in selection of the commissioned programmes for the current 2006-07, he charged.
Nirman informed that the interview for selection of the commissioned programmes for the DDK Imphal for the year 2006-07 was held at the office of the Doordharshan Kendra, Guwahati from March 5 to 8.Instead of the making the selection on the basis of the norms laid down by the Prasar Bharati Corporation, the selection committee indulged in favouritism.
It is on this account that the results of the selection has not been made public either through the notice board or the local newspapers till today, he alleged.
In all 131 producers have submitted their application for the commissioned programmes.
However, due to alleged threats from various quarters, the authorities of the DDK Imphal intimated that the selection interview would be conducted at the office of the DDK Guwahati.
After the interview only 51 applicants have been selected.
But interesting, among the selected applicants, there are Government employees including a person who work as a casual employees of the DDK Imphal, Nirman disclosed.
Over and above this, it has been found out that selection has also been made twice on the same topic submitted by an applicant.
This is really unfortunate, Nirman said.
He further disclosed that a complaint letter has already been forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer of the Prasar Bharati Corporation on April 16 in this connection.
However, no response has been received so far.
