Scribes suspend stir till Feb 25

Imphal, February 17 2011:
Following earnest appeals from the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, and assuring that the FIR registered against the Editor of Sanaleibak and vice president of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union, A Mobi, would be withdrawn at the soonest time possible, the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has decided to suspend its agitation till February 25 .
The scribes, under the aegis of AMWJU had boycotted all positive news related to the State Government, its party the Congress (I), its ally in the SPF the CPI and particularly the Home Department to protest the arrest of A Mobi on trumped up charges.
The boycott also covered all functions and programmes involving Ministers and MLAs of the ruling SPF Government.
The decision to suspend the agitation was taken during an emergency general body meeting of AMWJU held this evening.
In case, the FIR filed against A Mobi is not withdrawn by February 25, then AMWJU would resume the suspended agitation as well as take up other intense form of democratic protests.
