Imphal, April 08 2009:
Stating that he did not like the trend of abusing and hurling allegations amongst political parties, CPI candidate in Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency Dr Moirangthem Nara has called upon political parties to raise themselves from such low level of politics.
He also challenged candidates of other parties to fight openly towards bringing a revolutionary change in Manipur.
Intensifying election campaign CPI held public meetings at Mayang Langjing, Lilong Chajing, Lairenkabi, Shamurou, Heinoubok, Sanjenbam, Yurembam, Thambalkhong, Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Uripok Khaidem Leikai, Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai and Wahengbam Leikai.
Addressing these gatherings, Dr Nara asserted that non-existence of State Assembly did not count much.
The Andaman has no State Assembly till date.
But the country cannot go without the Parliament.
The Parliament is the most important political institute of the country.
It is also a seat where the country's destiny towards making it a peaceful and powerful State is decided, he asserted.
To represent the State in such a political institute of high stature, it is crucial to send an MP who is competent and has strong will to sacrifice for the society, Dr Nara asserted.
He further appealed to the people to register a record for hundred percent voting in electing a competent MP.
Observing that hurling abuses and making allegations amongst political parties at the time of elections is an usual strategy of the political parties, Dr Nara remarked that indulging in such political mud-slinging is not appropriate considering the present social condition of Manipur.
For a battle towards bringing a revolution in the State, the CPI has its door always wide open to all political parties for an open challenge, he declared.
Taking part in the election meetings, Health Minister Ph Parijat claimed that under the existing political scenario of the country, it is a foregone conclusion that the Third Front led by Left parties would come to power at the Centre.
At such a juncture, it would be the most correct move to elect Dr Nara of CPI, he asserted while seeking people's support to the CPI candidate.
MLA N Mangi questioned the achievements of NDA Government led by religion based BJP and the Congress led Governments.
He also dismissed all the propaganda being made by self-styled leaders of the State who were defecting from one party to another more often than not.
Claiming that CPI would always stand for the welfare of the State, Mangi said that the CPI and Dr Nara would always fight for the peasants, workers and the people reeling under black laws.
MLA U Deben and other party leaders also attended the election campaign meetings held today.
