Imphal, November 06 2010:
Street vendors, who are plying their trades at Khwairamband Keithel areas have set November 22 as the dead-line to provide them permanent plots in one of the newly built multi-storeyed market sheds failing which intense agitations would be launched.
In connection with their demand, a meeting under the aegis of The Educated Youth Cloth Vendors and Hawkers Association was held at Manipur Press Club today which ended with the adoption of various resolutions.
the resolutions include demand for allotment of remaining space to the street vendors after finalising the issuance of vendor license to the original vendors and to launch agitation in case the proposal is not honoured within 15 days of inauguration of the three market complexes.
Representatives of the vendors would also meet Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh tomorrow to highlight
their plight.
Speakers at the meeting strongly advocated provision of trading slots to the street vendors after the original vendors have been accommodated.
The Kabui Mothers' Association had also earlier demanded that the Government reserve some place for them.
