The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has declared the name of LB Sona of Churachandpur as its candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency.
A decision to this effect was unanimously adopted during a meeting of the party�s State election committee presided by its president Radhabinod Koijam today.
The meeting was attended NCP MLAs and leaders of its frontal organisations.
The party has already decided not to field its candidate in the Inner Parliamentary constituency but to support the MPP candidate.
LB Sona belonging to Churachandpur proper was chairman of the Churachandpur District Council for five years.
His profile include his activities as president of the Paite National Council and the Zoumi Council.He was also a member of the peace committee constituted in connection with the ethnic clash between Paites and Kukis.
On the other hand, it is reported that the People�s Democratic Alliance (PDA) will be announcing its candidate for the Outer Parliamentary constituency shortly.
A meeting of the party�s parliamentary affairs held yesterday deliberated on the prospective candidates who would represent the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
According to information received by press, ex-MLA BD Behring D Loli Adani, sitting MP Mani Charenamei and Kaiton are vying for NCP ticket.
