Imphal, October 17:
To lend more muscle and to ensure greater legitimacy to the revolutionary movements launched in Manipur, the proscribed UNLF is set to weed out the pseudo revolutionary groups, which have done nothing except tarnish the genuine movement.
Stating this, a spokesman of the UNLF today paraded two cadres of the KCP (P) and one cadre of the KCP (Emoinu) before media persons.
The two KCP (P) cadres are identified as Akhom Nanao alias Basanta (26) of Keirak Awang Leikai and Khumukcham Ibungo alias Kumar alias Hero alias Apaiba (24) of Samaram Makha Leirak Makha Leikai while the KCP (Emoinu) cadre is identified as Yengkokpam Amu alias Rojen (24) of Thoubal Khekman Wangma Taba, the Thoubal district commander of the outfit.
The spokesman said that Ibungo and Nanao are active members of the KCP (P) and added that they have been involved in extorting money from the public in the name of revolutionary movements for their own personal ends.
Part of the money extorted are given to Th Nando who is currently in jail for the brutal murder of Lungnila Elizabeth, said the spokesman and added part of the money is forwarded to Nando through his uncle Th Tomba.
The KCP (P) is nothing less than a gang, said the spokesman and added that all the money collected are used for their own personal ends.
The nabbed cadres have confessed that some of the money is used for buying arms and for fighting cases for those in jail.
The banned KCP factions including the KCP (P), KCP (Emoinu) and KCP (City Meitei) have no ideology or aspirations to work for the people, said the spokesman.
A member of the KCP (Emoinu) was over powered in the course of the man hunt launched for KCP (P) cadres in Thoubal district, said the spokesman.
The Thoubal district commander of KCP (Emoinu) is identified as Yengkokpam Amu alias Rojen (24), said the spokesman and added that he was taken into custody on October 10.His main activities include collecting money, arms procurement and recruitment drive.
Amu has also confessed that some leaders of the KCP (Emoinu) are closely linked with a prominent police commando, said the spokesman further.
Teaming up with such enemy agent is nothing but to throw the revolutionary movement in the wrong light and sow seeds of confusion, observed the spokesman.
These gangs have been intimidating the common people and extorting money from them for their own selfish ends in the name of revolutionary movements, said the spokesman and added that the conduct of these gang members have tarnished the genuine revolutionary movements.
