Imphal, April 29:
The calm waters of the Tuitha River (Khuga) today claimed yet another victim when a 13 year old school boy drowned while taking bath with his younger brother.
The deceased, Lalbiekliana son of F Suaklianzela of New Bazar, Lamka will be buried tomorrow.
He was reading in Class VI at the AG High School, Lamka.
Family sources said that Lalbiakliana and his brother Ramdina, reading in the same class at the same school, had gone to swim at Tuitha River near Mualvaiphei Bridge this afternoon after finishing their examination at the School.
When the river, which have been in spate recently due to heavy downpours, started to carry Lalbiekliana, his brother also jumped into the river to try to save him.
Both were carried by the currents and were about to drown when some people nearby luckily managed to drag the younger brother out of the water and saved him.
This is not the first time the serene looking waters of the river has claimed lives, especially young children.
