The State Government is setting its eyes on attracting the attention of investors to develop tourism potentials of the State in the North East Business Summit scheduled to be held at Kolkata from January 8 to 9, 2010 .
According to a reliable source, in connection with the activities that the State Government would be presenting at the summit, a preparatory meeting was held with Chief Secretary DS Poonia in the chair yesterday.
The discussion during the meeting centred on focussing on the tourism potentials of the State in the upcoming business summit.
A film showcasing the tourist spots and other required developments would be shown at the summit to attract the attention of the investors, the source disclosed.
The source further said that apart from tourism and participating in areas like IT, health care, infrastructure development and agro-processing, the State Government is also planning to set up an exhibition stall at the business summit this time.
To represent Manipur, in all 20 Government officials and 20 entreprenurers are expected to participate in the summit, the source informed, and added that the participation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, however, has not yet been finalised.
The North East Business Summit is being organised jointly by DONER Ministry and Indian Chamber of Commerce to faciliate direct interaction of the Chief Ministers, officials and entreprenuers of the North Eastern States with foreign and National businessmen to attract investment for development of the region.
