Along with organising a one-day sericulture awareness programme, Eramdam Cocoon Products kick started a five-day post cocoon technology training programme at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai today.
Forty two women are participating in the program-me organised under the sponsorship of State Seri-culture Department.
PANDM President and UCM Advisor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, Imphal East District Sericulture Officer H Rajendra and Khurai Chi-ngangbam Leikai GP Mem- ber O Ibecha graced the fun-ction as chief guest, presi- dent and guest of honour re-spectively.
Yumnamcha Dilipkumar expressed hope that the programme would help partici- pating women develop their skills and bring economic development.
S Rajendra said that the Department has already organised similar programmes at around 20 different localities of Imphal East and West districts.
The training programme is aimed at educating the people on different schemes, normal plans, Central Government sponsored schemes, Special Plan Assistance and RKVY.
There are two types of training programmes - cocoon rearing and yarn production, he added.
Supdt (T) Imphal West DSO l Tomchou said that training has been given to around 800 women.
The Department has set a target to impart training to 1200 women, he added.
