Mishaps claim six

At least six persons in different road mishaps that occurred during the just concluded Yaoshang festival.
According to police sources, the first incident occurred at Lukhumbi Part III under Nungba police station in Tamenglong district on March 21 .
There, one tractor operator from Lunasar village of Rajasthan who was engaged in flattening hill slopes as a part of the rail track laying work under North East Frontier was killed when he lost control of the tractor and fell down a hill slope together with the tractor.
The deceased has been identified as one Shuman Singh (50) .
One Oinam Inaocha (34) of Oinam Mamang Leikai was killed in another road accident at about 9.30 pm of the same day.
Inaocha was riding a Honda Activa together with two other persons when they rammed into a stationary truck loaded with firewood at Nambol Sabal Leikai along Imphal-Churachandpur road.
The truck was reportedly parked there as it broke down on the way.
However, the other two pillion riders escaped unhurt.
The same night one more man was killed in another road accident near Bishnupur Registrar Office along the same highway.
One Moirangthem Dhanajit (20) of Ningthoukhong Ward No II who was riding a motor-cycle died when he met with an accident by himself at about 11.30 pm.
Further, one mini truck (Tata DI) met with an accident by itself near Haya Laobi ground between Thinungei and Phubala at about 10.30 pm yesterday.
While three persons were killed in the mishap, eight sustained injuries.
They were reportedly going for Thabal Chongba.
The deceased have been identified as Laishram Gataraj (18), Chanambam Tomba (29) and Irom Suraj.
All of them belonged to Thinungei Mayai Leikai.
Meanwhile, one AR personnel who was riding a motorcycle has been killed when he was knocked down by a mini bus at Lamjao on Sugnu road this morning.
The AR personnel identified as Oinam Govishu (28) of Langmeidong Laimanai was declared brought dead at RIMS.
He was posted in Tripura.
