Imphal, April 21 2012:
The Assam Rifles authority has reassured the people of Nagaland that irrespective of the provocations and false allegations, peace shall prevail in Nagaland.
A statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (N) from Kohima today said the Assam Rifles is committed to preserve peace and harmony in Nagaland and the people of Nagaland must realise that the hard earned gains made in the ongoing peace process cannot be lost at any cost.
We have come too far to retrace our footsteps.
"Everyone realises that the current impasse has been enforced upon us and that despite grave provocations we shall continue to conduct our operations in a manner so as to live upto our motto of "the friends of the hill people"' the Assam Rifles statement asserted.
It further said that the current and future actions shall cause no hindrances or disruption to the lives of the common law abiding citizens of the state as in the past.
"Life in Nagaland shall and must continue as normal," the release said.
Reassuring the people of Nagaland that peace shall reign, the statement said in a democracy no individual or cause can be placed above the "will, aspirations and desires of the people and citizens".
"During this auspicious week of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the NBCC we pray to the Lord Almighty to continue to shower his blessings on the people of Nagaland," the AR statement added.
