Imphal, June 20:
Five kerosene hawkers on rickshaws were pulled up by MLA Th Shyamsunder and later handed over to Imphal police station to find out the source of their kerosene oil.
MLA Shyamsunder pulled up the kerosene black marketers from different parts of Imphal area today morning.
Even as the kerosene hawkers disclosed that they bought the SK oil at the rate of Rs 24/25 per litre to sell at the rate of Rs 28-30 per litre, they refused to divulge the wholesaler or the agents from where they bought the kerosene oil.
Speaking to reporters, Shyamsunder noted that the woes of the people, particularly those below poverty line have been aggravated by selling SK Oil at exorbitant rate in black market while the FCS Department is unable to provide kerosene oil to the people at the Government rate.
The legislator while maintaining that the kerosene hawkers were not guilty for they were just searching for a means to sustain their livelihood, instructed the police to release them after confirming the source from where they bought the SK oil.
