Imphal, March 16:
Reacting to the charges of UNLF on Kuki Inpi and Kuki Movement for Human Rights, Kuki Chiefs' Association has asserted that Kuki Inpi and its associated bodies were never under anybody's subjection to air the plights of its own people, the given circumstances and state of affairs prevailing over the strife-torn parts of Chandel district.
In a statement made available to the press, vice president of Kuki Chiefs' Association N Mate said the forcible capture of villagers from TS Laijang grouping centre and taking them to an unknown destination on March 13 by the proscribed outfit was never a blind allegation.
Indeed, upholding the peaceful and mutual understanding of the composite Manipur structure has been the principle of the Kuki bodies besides doing to uphold the age old cordiality amongst the people.
It is because of this belief that the Kukis have showing patience till date.
The statement further said that the captured people were, infact, deported to Myanmar and subsequently brought back after civil and Government machineries stepped to ensure the safety of the captives, whose life and liberty remain at stake.
The arbitrary capture, detention and deportation of the Kuki people at will by any revolutionary outfit is but a serious violation of human rights and freedom.
So such attitude against the less privileged people will never be tolerated and negotiated as it would tantamount to severing the emotional and territorial integrity of the State.
Instead, efforts to invoke just and more humane consideration should be the cornerstone of pluralistic existence, the statement of the Kuki Chiefs' Assn added.
Kuki Inpi Manipur had earlier submitted a representation to the President and the Prime Minister of India as well as to the Chief Minister urging for intervention and rescuing over 400 Kuki refugees allegedly kidnapped by UNLF on March 12 from Laijang refugee camp and taken to Myanmar.
Kuki Women Union and Human Rights, Moreh, Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh and HTC, Moreh have also lodged complaint with the chairman of District Peace and Development Council, Tamu, Myanmar in this regard.
