Unidentified armed men suspected to be KNA activists shot and injured one Thiansuanmang (28) near Zou Veng at around 12.15 pm today as penalty for peddling banned drugs.
Kuki National Army in a statement issued later in the day claimed that Thiansuanmang of Rengkai Bible Hills was shot for his alleged involvement in peddling drugs despite their warning of dire consequences for any such activities within and around Bijang area.
According to Thiansuanmang he was detained by two youths when he was with his wife Ngaitinkim at Sielmat Hospital Campus and later shot his leg with a 9 mm pistol.
Both the legs of Thiansuanmang who was now admitted at the District hospital here were hit by the bullet pumped on the right leg as it allegedly pierces through it.
Meanwhile, Kuki National Front today declared that public curfew will be imposed every night within the locality of D Phailien village from 4 pm in the evening till 5 am.
The announcement came a day after some of their cadres allegedly injured two youth after opening firing early last night.
A statement of the outfit also denied that anyone was called for a talk in the residence of D Phailien Village Chief last night, as was reported.
