Don Bosco, Maram joins in donating blood

Imphal, September 09 2012:
In all 77 persons, including students and faculty members of Don Bosco College, Maram donated blood at a voluntary blood donation camp organised by Association of voluntary Blood Donors (AVBD), Manipur in association with NSS unit of the Maram institution and JNIMS Blood Bank on September 8 at the College premises.
An AVBD statement informed that the camp was organised as part of its continuous effort to make Manipur a 100 percent achiever in voluntary blood donation movement.
speaking at the occasion, AVBD founder president Dr T Tomcha Khuman stressed on the importance of starting blood donation at an early stage of life so that problem of blood shortage in the State could be done away with.
He also exhorted the blood donors to continue the humane service even though a donor seldom gets words of gratitude from the recipient (s) .

Agreeing with dr Tomcha, Don Bosco College Rector Fr K Sebastian stated that in 'Christianity also there is a belief that the right hand should not know what the left hand is doing', which signifies that people should do go deeds/works without expecting anything in return.
College Principal Fr Benny James, in his address, applauded the students and faculty members who donated blood while appreciating AVBD for its initiatives in spreading the message about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
former MU NSS Programme Officer Dr A Rajmani Singh and JNIMS Blood Bank officer Dr K Surjit also spoke at the occasion.
It is also informed that on September 7, AVBD conducted two awareness campaigns on voluntary blood donation at the Maram institution, which was attended by a total of 167 students.
AVBD secretary Kh Samarjit Singh, Senapati District AIDS Control Officer Dr Loli Mao and AVBD member Dr Xavier deliberated on different topics such as basic blood science, benefits of voluntary blood donation, blood banking, etc.
Meanwhile, AVBD conveyed gratitude to all the individuals and agencies that extended support for the campaign.
