Imphal, March 08 2009:
CPI (M) would be supporting NCP candidate for the Lok Sabha elections in Outer Parliamentary constituency and the CPI candidate in the Inner Parliamentary constituency.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Paona Bazar today, CPI (M) state secretary Sarat Salam, secretariat member M Shamu and Kshetrimayum Shanta conveyed that decision to support NCP candidate LB Sona in Outer Lok Sabha seat and CPI candidate Dr M Nara in Inner Lok Sabha seat was adopted during the party's central committee meeting held at Delhi on March 7 and 8. In line with the party's resolution to defeat both the ruling Congress party and the BJP, adopted during a high-level meeting held on February 28, it has been decided not to put up candidates in both the Parliamentary seats after studying the roles of the Third Front at both the national and state levels, the CPI (M) leaders said.
With the CPI refusing to pull out from SPF, the CPI(M) will focus its election campaign on the anti-people activities of the seven year old SPF Government as well as on the issues of law and order, power and water supply etc, they said.
However, CPI (M)'s disclosure that it would like to make its election campaign together with CPI which is a partner of the SPF Government, has perplexed the people.
