Imphal, August 31 2009:
A single bench of the Gauhati High Court has asked for the report of the FIR registered at City police station in connection with the killing of Thokchom Rabina at Khwairamband market on July 23.Rabina's mother-in-law Memi filed a writ petition at Gauhati High Court on August 17 .
Th Chinglensana, Rabina's husband, filed a complaint at City Police station on July 24 in connection with the killing of Rabina at Khwairamband.
However, City police sat idle on the complaint and no FIR case was registered.
Subsequently Memi filed a writ petition at Gauhati High Court.
The petitioner appealed to the Court to issue necessary directives so that an FIR case is registered at City police station based on the complaint filed by Chinglensana and an independent body like the CBI is roped in to investigate the killing.
The petitioner also appealed for regular monitoring of the investigation process from time to time.
While hearing the petition today, respondent's counsel said that an FIR case has been registered, acting on the complaint filed by Rabina's husband.
To this, the petitioner's counsel pleaded that report of the FIR case may be produced before the Court.
After hearing both the petitioner and the respondent, Justice Ashok Potshangbam issued a ruling asking the respondent to submit report of the FIR case to the Court on Wednesday.
