Against the alleged attempt to murder Heikrujam Budhichandra, a public meeting was held today at Andro Kangjeibung under the aegis of All Andro Meira Paibi Association.
Various resolution were adopted in the meeting presided by president of the All Andro Meira Paibi Association Ch Manglembi.
To urge the authority concerned to award befitting punishment to the prime accused Yumkhaibam Shyamchandra and to book other individuals involved in the assault was one of the resolutions adopted during the meeting.
It also resolved that registration of cases against some particular individuals in connection with the demolition of the Shyamchandra's house by an angry mob was a clear case of victimising the particular individuals.
Refusing to accept particularisation of mob act, the meeting demanded that Yairipok police should drop the case immediately.
Another resolution adopted in the meeting was to boycott and banish the prime accused Shyamchandra together with his family indefinitely from Andro.
In case of any attempt from any quarter to deviate the people's movement to bring justice in the issue, the people of Andro decided to take help of various civil organisations of the State.
It was also decided to submit memoranda containing all these resolutions to the Chief Minister, the DGP, SP Thoubal and OC Yairipok Police Station.
Many speakers addressing the meeting conveyed deep concern over the tense situation prevailing at Andro and also appealed to all relevant authorities to solve the issue amicably.
Starting from the rape and murder of under aged Thambaltombi to the severe assault on Budhichandra, Andro has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, they observed.
Taking strong exception to all these criminal activities, they appealed to all concerned to punish all the criminals according to their crimes so that such crimes do not recur in Andro.
