The apex student body of Senapati District, Senapati District Students Association has submitted a charter of demands to the Chief Minister on April 11 drawing prompt and favourable action on the prolonged and long standing grievances of the people of the district.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the student body said that the district which is located at a strategic point, geographically as well as politically, in the State has been lagging behind or is less developed when compared to the other districts in every field of development and progress.
SDSA added that one of the key reasons is the indifferent attitudes of the State Government and its bureaucrats.
It also demanded immediate rectification and compensation from the Govt's side.
Detailing its 11 points charter of demands, the memorandum signed by RR Veishole Pou officiating president, SDSA, president Poumai Students� Union, president Maram Students� Union, president Mao Students� Union, president, Thangal Students� Union and president, Zeliangrong Stu dents� Union, Senapati Zone was submitted on April 11 last.
The demands include opening up of SDO Hqs office, Motor vehicle DTO without shifting the existing DTO at Kangpokpi, Traumatic Centre for emergency cases.
The student body also for expediting the construction work of Mini Stadium and to accelerate the implementation of already sanctioned scheme of Augmentation of Water Supply at Senapati Hqs as Maram, Tadubi and Paomata are facing acute water scarcity throughout the year.
Other demands include construction of traffic point and bus terminal to avoid accidents, full-fledged Govt high school, college in district headquarters, multi-purpose indoor stadium and youth hostel, construction of FCS godown, basic medical facilities at district hospital and posting of permanent gynaecologist and paediatrician etc.
