Peeved with the inordinate delay in arresting and punishing the real culprit involved in the murder of Lungnila Elizabeth and non-compliance to demand for establishment of Directorate of Education (S) exclusively for the hill areas, All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (AT-SUM) said it will launch democratic form of protests from January 20 onwards.
Taking cognizance of disclaim of the State Government to whatever information a particular underground organization had provided regarding the Lungnila murder case the student body demanded Government produce a White Paper on the issue.
On the first day a peaceful sit-in-protest will be held from 10 am till 2pm throughout the State, said ATSUM appealing civil societies, student bodies, NGOs and individuals to join at the protest.
On January 22 there will be picketing of Government offices in the hill districts to highlight discontentment against the pre-sent Government in handling the twin issue.
Appealing to the Manipur public to cooperate and extend solidarity to its protest programmes, ATSUM outlined January 24 as day of protest from 6 am till 6 pm urging all to stay indoors and desist from business and official activities during the period.
