Imphal, November 29 2010:
Thadou Tribe Council, Chandel district has appealed against calling bandh over the killing of village chief Ngamkholet Baite by any organisations, be it social or student association.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at Pallel today, chairman of Thadou Tribe Council, Chandel district Tompu Haokip asserted that late Ngamkholet Baite was the founder of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) and this armed outfit is not a signatory of Suspension of Operation (SoO).
He was killed by armed cadres of UKLF for floating a new outfit in their operational area, Tompu added.
Tompu further informed that from the investigation of Thadou Tribe Council, it has been known that Tupiching village where the body of Ngamkholet was found is an area where the UGs have planted land-mines all over to prevent entry of security forces.
So, the villagers of the surrounding area normally avoid venturing into Tupiching.
Describing the killing of Ngamkholet Haokip as UG clashes, Tompu categorically stated that this is also not going to be the last.
So, calling bandh over such killings or supporting such bandh by any organisation, be it social or student body, would be unreasonable.
It may be noted here that a JAC formed in protest against the killing of Ngamkholet had announced Chakka bandh in Churachandpur district from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow.
