Road mishaps claim four

Imphal, May 27 2011:
Four people including a woman have been killed while eight others sustained injuries in three different incidents of road mishaps.
The first accident happened between Moidangpok and New Keithelmanbi along Imphal-Jiribam highway under Patsoi police station at about 10.45 pm yesterday, informed a police source.
A truck accidentally rammed into a roadside tree killing the driver.
The deceased driver has been identified as one Konjengbam Kumar Meitei (27) of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai.
In another incident, a Bolero jeep carrying passengers hit a culvert at Senapati along Imphal-Dimapur highway at about 2.30 this morning.
Two people including a woman were killed in the mishap while five others sustained injuries.
The ill-fated jeep was travelling from Dimapur to Imphal.
The deceased victims have been identified as Kavita Kumar (44) w/o Krishna Kumar from Delhi and KS Robert (33) of Chingsui village, Ukhrul district.
It is reported that Kavita was coming to Imphal on a tour to Manipur.
Robert succumbed to injuries at Senapati district hospital.
Both the corpses have been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
The injured victims underwent treatment at Senapati district hospital.
The third mishap took place near Finch Corner along Imphal-Ukhrul road when a truck carrying GI pipes fell into a 100 feet deep gorge at about 7.30 am today.
The truck travelling from Imphal to Ukhrul fell into the gorge following a technical failure killing its owner.
The deceased owner has been identified as Laishram Jugol (70) of Lamdeng Khunou.
Truck driver Thangjam Nanao (35) of Heibongpokpi and passengers Achom Lukhoijao of Taothong Khunou and Ashangbam Ibomcha (55) of Lamdeng Khunou also sustained injuries.
They are undergoing treatment at RIMS.
