Imphal, February 27 2009:
The evolving trend has swept many people off their feet going after objects of their wish without thinking whether they can afford or not.
In the process, they are taking recourse to both acceptable and foul means throwing all questions of morality and dignity to the wind.
The people of Manipur are facing twin problems of economic exploitation in the form of India's colonial economy and globalisation.
Asking which course people should take in the face of globalisation and global financial crisis and the lost sources of income generation, Chaoren reminded that unlike India there was no form of feudalism as Jamindari System in Manipur.
During those periods, every people of Manipur was the proud owner of the land he was tilling.
Producing surplus food, peasants contributed a lot to the sound economy of Manipur.
Under such a system, the people of Manipur enjoyed equal social status without any difference or discrimination.
But now all the wealth of Manipur have fallen into the hands of outsiders.
Manipuris are no longer the owners of its resources.
Considering all these, Manipur can be made self-reliant only by transferring ownership of the State's resources to its people and the native people taking control of business activities.
Only these measures can save the people from the colonial economic policy, globalisation and the current global economic crisis, Chaoren asserted.
Observing that unity seems to have lost its meaning in Manipur, the RPF president noted that no unity can be realised if one is wielding knife while shouting for unification.
It's time to build up a united Manipur keeping aside all differences of ethnicity, religion, place of settlement (hills or valley) sincerely without any concealed ill-feeling, Chaoren exhorted.
For such a meaningful unity, the RPF called upon the people of Manipur and all revolutionary organisations so as to create a strong and prosperous Manipur.
On the occasion of the outfit's foundation day, the RPF president also conveyed greetings to all groups of new South East Asia (called North East India by India) who are waging liberation struggle against New Delhi as well as to all revolutionary groups fighting for the suppressed people of India.
Chaoren also called upon all these groups to join hands against India in order to bring freedom to the peoples.
