Imphal, May 20 2011:
North East Dialogue Forum and Women Action for Development have strongly condemned the brutal murder of 4 year old Thiyam Roberoy alias Ton s/o Th Rocky of Ningthoukhong Kha-Khunou ward no.4, Bishnupur district by some unidentified persons.
The body of the young victim was found hanging with both legs and hands tied by a rope inside the room (Maibi sang) of Ibudhou Thangnarel temple at around 2 pm on May 18 .
In a statement, co-ordinator of North East Dialogue Forum S Dhanabir Singh said that such brutal act of murdering a young and innocent boy is unbearable in a situation where the people of Manipur have been experiencing various crimes against children.
This is not the only blood curdling case in Manipur.
Recently on April 16 last, a 10-year old boy named Soibam George alias Abung s/o S Jugindro of Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal was found dead hanging at his residence, Dhanabir recalled, while demanding that the culprits be booked and punished as per the law of the land.
In many cases, our law enforcement agencies take too long to identity the culprits and it is hard to get justice in Manipur, he lamented.

Pointing out that police mordernisation process has been going on for the last many years, Dhanabir hoped that this process would include capacity building of the police and intelligence groups as well.
Only then, can such heinous crimes be checked more effectively in Manipur, he said and added that children need an atmosphere of security, free from fear and intimidation.
Condemning the killing, secretary of Women Action for Development Sobita Mangsatabam has described it as a shameful and heinous crime.
Appealing to the Government to take immediate action against the culprits, she also pointed out that many more similar cases have taken place in the last few months including that of Soibam George alias Abungo (10) s/o S Jugindro of Thangapat Mapal and Ranjana (3) of Cachar.
WAD has also shared in the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family and prayed for peaceful repose of the departed soul in its heavenly abode.
