Imphal, November 12 2010:
With regard to the controversy surrounding the reported arrest of UNLF leader RK Sanayaima (UNLF Chairman), the United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) has questioned New Delhi's motive as well as its commitment to peace.
"The situation is obscure.
Nobody knows of his whereabouts or his situation.
It is disgusting to hear that India would adopt such a stand with regard to a leader like Meghen who stands for the people of North-East and Manipur in particular", UTLA remarked in a press statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Public Relations secretary Anaconda.
It is unfortunate and sad for the particular organization and all others who have been striving for unification of North-East's sovereignty.
The whereabouts of such leaders should be made clear and disclosed to the media for future understanding, it asserted.
The United Tribal Liberation Army strongly condenmed the brutality and atrocities of the security forces against revolutionary groups of the Northeast.
The apprehension of RK Sanayaima, chairman of the UNLF, is one such example whose whereabouts is unknown till date.
The UTLA sternly believes that the birthright and political rights and their demands should be solved politically but not by brute forces.
If the Government of India try to solve the political demands of the Northeast only through the barrel of gun then the people would shift their stand and declare that not only Arunachal Pradesh but the whole northeast is part and parcel of China.
"In fact, we are divided by India thus far, but when we are united the Indians will ultimately meet their ends.
The step motherly treatment and the role played by the Government of India is inconsistent with the principles embodied in the chapter of the United Nations, particularly the Right to self-determination", the outfit observed.
The Government of India should be sincere and faithful to the revolutionary groups and the people, failing which they will face another grave war-the whole northeast and China on the one side and India alone on the other.
"If New Delhi view us as their people they should not play hide and seek against us when they apprehended RK Sanayaima.
They should be sincere enough to tell the northeast people and the entire world, where the later is, whether he is under custody or had they already murdered him in cold blood.
Such act of India is a cowardice and against the international human rights", it said.
"When Lala Rajpat Rai said, "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it," he is termed as patriot, hero, and freedom fighter, but when we say the same how we can be quoted as otherwise", the outfit questioned.
The UTLA on behalf of the people strongly condemned the incident and insist to avoid such misconduct in future, it added.
