Established under the motto of 'March forward' 50 years back, Motbung Youth Club (MYC) today celebrated its golden jubilee at its ground along with a cultural razzmatazz.
Presentation of cultural dances by various cultural troupes, observing one minute silence various cultural troupes, observing one minute silence as mark of respect to all the founder members of the club, contest for Miss and Mr Golden Jubilee title, talent show, comedy circus, etc were some of the main highlights of the celebration which was inaugurated by Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii as chief guest, MLA of Saitu Assembly Constituency Haokholet Kipgen as guest of honour and president of Thadou Tribe Council, General Headquarters Demmang Haokip as functional president.
Chairman of Hill Area Committee, Manipur Thangminlen Kipgen and Reverend V Sitlhou were also present at the occasion attended by many village chiefs and leaders as jubilee Pa and dedicatory minister respectively.
After the welcome song presented by the volunteers of MYC, golden jubilee Pa and chairman of Hill Area Committee Thangminlen Kipgen unfurled the flag of the club to formally inaugurate the celebration.
This was followed by releasing colourful balloons with a festoon inscribed with the motto of the club by the chief guest Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii.
The chief guest also unveiled the golden jubilee memorial stone as well as the memorial pavilion of late SL Nehminlen apart from releasing a souvenir to mark the occasion.
Later addressing the gathering, Minister DD Thaisii pointed out that frequent disturbances along the stretch of National Highway 39 from Moreh to Mao which is the important route of the people in the State is really unfortunate.
So the villagers settling on either side of the road should ensure protection of the road from such disturbances.
The Minister further pointed out that in any society there has to be an administrative system and development of that society depends on the smooth functioning of this administrative system.
In order to smooth functioning of this administrative system, every local clubs and organisations should also understand their responsibility.
Speaking as guest of honour of the function, MLA Haokholet Kipgen observed that youth are the hope and future of the society.
So proper guidance should be given to the youth.
It is here that every local clubs and organisations should pay special attention.
